I used to be a heavy sleeper. Evenwith an alarm, I would have a hard time waking up. But it all changed ever since I got diagnosed with diabetes. I was waking up at least 3 times at night, which left me very tired in the morning. Then I turned to my best friend “Google”, and found some techniquies to get better sleep. Since they worked really well, I decided to share them so others could also try them out. Here are some of the things I am doing.
I got rid of the tv in my room:
That was a big distraction. Every time I was struggling to sleep, I would turn on my Tv and start watching. That made the sleep schedule even worse. Now that I don’t have a Tv in my bedroom, I don’t have an option but to try to sleep.
I started working out:
Just going for a little walk has made a big difference. It makes my body tired which helps me sleep better at nights.
I started eating less at nights:
Heavy meals were also hurting my sleep. I was waking up with heart burn at nights, looking for antacid. Not anymore. Try eating at least 2 hours before you go to bed to ensure proper digestion .
I started sleeping with less light:
Making the room darker has helped me with the sleep. It makes the room calm and soothing.
I started drinking a cup of warm milk before going to bed:
This trick makes me sleepy instantly. I don’t know what the scientific reason behingd it,but this trcik has worked for me, and may work for you too.
Try them out and see which one works best for you. You may have to try them a few times to get used to it, but I can assure you it is definitely better than counting sheeps at nights.
